ENERGY STAR is a U.S. Environmental Protection Agency program that helps businesses and individuals save money and resources by achieving greater energy efficiency. In accordance with this mission, many ENERGY STAR products — including air conditioning systems, boilers, furnaces, water heaters and heat pumps — qualify their owners for state and federal tax credits. Tax credits for heating and cooling equipment can ease the burden of large purchases on limited budgets and often go a long way toward making high-tech products more affordable.
