The Best Heating Systems In 2025

The Best Heating Systems In 2025Replacing your heating system is a big decision, and one that will affect your home for years to come. Your heating system keeps your home warm in the winter, and also has a huge impact on your energy bills. This is why you need to make sure you are choosing the right heating system for your situation.

There are plenty of different types of heating systems. Heat pumps, furnaces, boilers, and ductless mini splits are the main types of heating systems we install and service. We’ve been working in the Main Line area for years, and know that not every house is the same. This is why not every heating system is perfect for every house.

Our HVAC experts will take a look at your space, and help you with the choice between what they think are the best options to heat your home or business. In this article, I’m going to go over some of the different types of heating systems, and what you should consider when you are installing a new HVAC system.

High Efficiency Heat Pumps

One of our favorite kinds of HVAC systems to install would be heat pumps. Heat pumps operate extremely efficiently. They function using electricity, rather than burning fossil fuels. A heat pump will draw heat from the air outside, and then using electric coils to create more heat, pump the air into your home.

This is a VERY energy efficient process. This is why high efficiency heat pumps qualify for tax credits and rebates in lots of cases, depending on the efficiency rating. In an effort to consume less energy, the government and utility companies offer these incentives to reduce some of the initial costs of installation.

Heat pumps also have the ability to cool your home. Instead of needing to install an air conditioning system as well, the heat pump can cool your home in the summer, and heat it in the winter!

Our Favorite Heat Pumps

Our favorite heat pumps are Carrier heat pumps, specifically Infinity Variable Speed With Greenspeed Intelligence. Variable speed means the system will adjust based on how much heating is needed. Instead of running at a single speed and turning off and on constantly, these systems will adjust their output based on need. This helps your temperature stay consistent, and also saves energy!

Carrier is one of the oldest and most dependable manufacturers of HVAC equipment. In fact, Willis Carrier is the person who invented air conditioning in the early 1900s. He did this to help relieve humidity in a publishing house in NY, who was having trouble with their images on the magazines.

Since the invention of modern HVAC, Carrier has been developing and improving heating and cooling systems, which is one of the reasons we love them so much!

There are many different types of Carrier HVAC systems, and our comfort specialists will recommend the right one based on the needs of your home or business. There are varying levels of efficiency, size, and design that help different homeowners make the selection that fits their needs perfectly!

Ductless Mini Splits

Ductless Mini Splits Can Heat And CoolDuctless mini splits are different styles of heat pumps. These don’t use ductwork, but instead have a condenser outside that connects to one or multiple “heads” or “cassettes” inside. They function the same way a heat pump does, drawing heat from the outside, even when it’s very chilly.

The difference with mini splits is that no ductwork is used, like a traditional heat pump does. These systems are also zoned, meaning they treat different spaces in the home independently. You can have one room set to 70 degrees, while another is at 73, and another may be off simply because the room isn’t being used. This zoned comfort leads to lower energy bills, and more personalized comfort.

Mini splits also have the ability to heat and cool, just like a heat pump does. This is another reason that we love these systems. They can keep your home comfortable year round, and don’t require you to have separate heating and cooling systems!

Our Favorite Mini Splits

We love Carrier ductless mini splits. These systems come with a range of efficiency ratings, and multiple styles. They have floor mounted units, wall mounted units, and ceiling cassettes. These all offer different aesthetics, as well as accommodation for the space in your home.

You can install these around your entire home, or simply in a room that isn’t staying comfortable, or may be an addition to your home that wasn’t built with HVAC in mind.

High Efficiency Furnaces

Furnaces are very common in our area, and are traditionally what people use to heat their homes. We have installed and serviced lots of oil and gas furnaces, and know that these are dependable systems when it comes to heating.

Unfortunately these systems don’t have the ability to cool like the heat pumps and mini splits, but they are still a great option when it comes to heating.

Our Favorite Furnaces

Carrier Furnaces Are Dependable And EfficientSome of our favorite furnaces are Carrier Infinity Gas Furnaces With Greenspeed Intelligence. There are varying levels of efficiency, with 98 being the most efficient model they offer. The Greenspeed Intelligence allows the system to fluctuate its output based on how much heat you need.

Instead of simply turning off and on, this heating system can run at different speeds to give you the heating you need. This is going to help you save energy, and also stay comfortable without big temperature swings.
